The private equity / venture capital team of SKYE PARTNERS has provided legal advice to dwins GmbH (“dwins“) regarding its investment into the insurance business by acquiring volders Versicherungsvermittlung GmbH (“volders”). The parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transaction.
dwins is a financial technology company based in Frankfurt am Main, which was founded in 2015 by the brothers Alexander and Benjamin Michel, Sandro Sonntag and Florian Hirsch. In addition to Deutsche Bank AG and Coparion as well as other VC investors, Carsten Maschmeyer joined the company in 2018 with its investment vehikel seed & speed after the founders had convinced in the show “Die Höhle der Löwen”. The financing resulting from “Die Höhle der Löwen” is considered one of the biggest single deals of the well-known start-up show.
Product of dwins is the app “Finanzguru”, a digital and individual financial assistant based on artificial intelligence. By the end of 2019, the Finanzguru app already had more than 500,000 registered users, making it the largest bank-independent financial app on the German market.
volders Versicherungsvermittlung GmbH is a subsidiary of volders GmbH. The business is the brokerage of insurance and financial services. The subsidiary was founded in 2018. With the acquisition of volders Versicherungsvermittlung GmbH, dwins has now also entered successfully into the insurance business.
